A word from the Operations Manager

FY26 was a year of growth and opportunity for Green Yakka. Building on the momentum of our new brand launch in FY25, we strengthened our operations, expanded partnerships and increased our impact across our labour hire and zero waste services.

We welcomed new clients, deepened relationships with existing partners and continued investing in the systems, training and workplace safety practices that support sustainable growth. These foundations have helped strengthen Green Yakka’s reputation for delivering reliable, high-quality services that create positive environmental and social outcomes.

During FY26, Green Yakka delivered 4,535 work shifts, including 1,476 shifts completed by former refugees through the Economic Pathways to Refugee Integration (EPRI) program. We provided employment opportunities for 126 people, with 84.9% of employees joining us while experiencing barriers to work. We also delivered 358 training and development outcomes, helping people build skills, confidence and pathways to long-term employment while supporting clients to meet workforce and sustainability goals.

Our Zero Waste team continued to expand its impact by helping organisations better understand and reduce their waste. During FY26, we delivered major waste audit programs for two national companies, including Mirvac and a nationwide audit for EY across every Australian capital city. The data and insights generated through this work are helping organisations improve resource recovery, reduce contamination and divert more material from landfill. These projects demonstrate Green Yakka’s ability to deliver practical sustainability solutions at scale.

Across our Labour Hire operations, demand continued to grow as we partnered with councils, contractors and businesses throughout Sydney and the Illawarra. We supported complex infrastructure, environmental and resource recovery projects with partners such as Glascott and John Holland, while creating meaningful employment opportunities for people facing barriers to work.

It was encouraging to see Green Yakka’s work recognised during the year, including being named a finalist in the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion category at the Illawarra Business Awards and the Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Award at the Third Sector Awards. These achievements reflect the quality of our work, the strength of our partnerships and the growing recognition of social enterprise as a practical solution for creating jobs and environmental outcomes.

As we look ahead, Green Yakka is well positioned for the future. With strong partnerships, growing demand for our services and a dedicated team behind us, we will continue creating a positive social and environmental impact while delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients.
