GOAL THREE
A Message from Our People & Culture Manager, Anthony Rohr
This year, what stood out most to me was the strength of our people and the culture we have created together.
Across Community Resources, we saw people looking out for one another, embracing change, sharing ideas and finding new ways to improve the work we do together. We saw leaders investing in their teams, staff stepping into new opportunities and workplaces becoming safer, more connected and more supportive.
Across Community Resources, employees completed 9,142 improvement, compliance and operational actions, achieving a 98.9% completion rate and demonstrating a strong culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

Safety and Improvement
Safety is at its best when it becomes part of everyday behaviour. During FY26, our people submitted 1,435 safety reports and recorded 226 Safe Acts Observed, helping to identify risks early and improve workplace safety. At Soft Landing, this commitment contributed to an 86% reduction in Lost Time Injuries and five consecutive months without a Lost Time Injury.
Soft Landing also achieved certification to internationally recognised ISO standards for quality management (ISO 9001:2015), environmental management (ISO 14001:2016) and occupational health and safety (ISO 45001:2018), demonstrating that its operations meet globally recognised benchmarks for safety, quality and environmental performance.
Across Community Resources, employees completed 9,142 improvement, compliance and operational actions, achieving a 98.9% completion rate and demonstrating a strong culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

Connection and Inclusion
Our diversity continues to be one of our greatest strengths. Throughout the year, staff came together to celebrate events such as NAIDOC Week, Refugee Week and International Women’s Day, creating opportunities to learn from one another, strengthen connections and celebrate the diverse experiences that make up Community Resources.
These results were reflected in our 2026 Employee Engagement Survey which showed staff feel connected to their teams, supported by their managers and optimistic about the future.
Employee Engagement Survey Highlights
- 91% Employee Engagement (+10% since 2024)
- 84% Wellbeing (+11%)
- 86% Progress (+21%)
- 99% confidence in our managers
Staff consistently highlighted teamwork, supportive leaders and positive workplace relationships as the things they value most.

Our People Thriving
A strong culture creates opportunities for people to grow.
A strong culture creates opportunities for people to grow. During FY26, we delivered 11,224 training and development outcomes, helping our people gain new skills, progress into new roles, and build brighter futures through meaningful work.
Take Richard Drake, who joined Community Resources as an ICT Intern through social venture Take2 after completing its coding program. Richard came to our workplace at a difficult time in his life, and was provided with support, resources and opportunity to improve his quality of life. During his internship, Richard developed skills across systems including Feathertop and Power BI, becoming a valued member of the ICT team. In FY26, he graduated from the Take2 program and secured full-time employment with a large national recycler in Sydney, taking the next step in his career.
Geoffrey Murray is an Aboriginal man who grew up with his family on a mission in a small town. After a long period of unemployment, he joined Soft Landing ACT through the Work for the Dole program in 2019.
Geoffrey quickly became a valued member of the team, embracing opportunities to learn new skills and lend a hand wherever he was needed. As a result, he was offered a full-time position when the program ended. Today, he works as a truck driver and continues to support his teammates across the site. “I enjoy just coming to work. And it helps when you have a good boss,” he says.
These results, improvements and stories all point to the same thing: when people feel supported, trusted and connected, they thrive. And when our people thrive, so do the communities we serve.
