GOAL FIVE
Growing Sustainable, Long-Term Pathways into Employment
FY26 was a year characterised by steady, sustainable growth, helping us create stable employment and long-term positive outcomes for people, Country and the communities we serve.
We secured record new business, renewed long-term contracts, expanded services into new regions and invested in initiatives that will support employment growth and social impact for years to come.
We provided 768 employment opportunities, including 667 direct employment opportunities and 101 people who secured employment through our work readiness and employment programs. We also delivered 11,224 training and development outcomes, helping people build skills, confidence and experience for long-term workforce participation. This impact was made possible through continued growth and investment across our social enterprises and community services:

Resource Recovery Australia expanded into new communities, opening Reviva Reuse Shops in Wallan and Seymour, commencing the City of Sydney Doorstep Recycling Service and taking on the management of eight waste facilities and Reviva Grafton in the Clarence Valley. These new services created local employment opportunities while extending the reach of reuse and recycling initiatives into more communities.

Soft Landing built capacity for future growth, securing new bulk mattress arrangements at Smithfield, growing its contracted operations in Western Australia and progressing Queensland’s first dedicated mattress recycling facility. Investment in Australia’s first Pocket Spring Recycler and the achievement of 100% landfill diversion at our Perth and Smithfield sites were significant achievements that will enable Soft Landing to be more competitive and grow its impact for people and Country. Partnerships with Corrective Services NSW and ACT Corrective Services created more than 1,200 days of paid employment for people preparing to transition back into the community.

Green Yakka strengthened its position as a provider of purpose-driven labour hire and zero waste services, creating employment opportunities for 126 people and delivering more than 4,500 work shifts. This included 1,476 shifts completed by participants in the Economic Pathways to Refugee Integration (EPRI) program, helping people from refugee backgrounds gain valuable Australian work experience, build skills and create pathways into long-term employment.

Our Community Services continued innovating practical pathways towards employment, education and greater independence that changed lives. Homebases’s Strive for Success program supported disengaged or at-risk young people into work, education and training, with 83% of participants experiencing barriers progressing into employment, education or training, or both, and 92% retaining employment on program completion. Helping Hands’ partnership with Broadworth Modular created three apprenticeships, three carpenter roles and a metal fabricator position, and will create new pathways into the construction industry as the work grows.
Behind these achievements is a person, a family and a community thriving as a result of access to meaningful employment and the right support.
Young people like Sarah rebuilding their lives and creating a more stable future for their families through Strive for Success.
Boaz using employment with Green Yakka to support his family in Australia and give back to his community in Africa.
Dung Khuu finding meaningful work, support and a sense of belonging with Soft Landing after joining through the Compulsory Drug Treatment Program.
Josephine Ivory leading the next generation of women in waste while leading Resource Recovery Australia’s Moreton Bay operations.
Together, these outcomes demonstrate that when we focus on what we do best – creating jobs that care for people and Country – growth becomes something much more meaningful than size alone. It becomes an opportunity for more people to participate, contribute and thrive.
